HI KIDS!!!!!!   ALL of the following is suggested review, practice and enrichment work if you would like to keep busy - and all of the work is optional:)
I have unlocked the AP Classroom Unit 1-9 MC and FRQ practice. ALL of these are specific to the new tests. The Units will be open for AP LIT and AP LANG during the following times:

Complete the close reading/annotation of JFK's  Speech. If you did not listen to the speech in class - listen to it first and underline any rhetorical devices you hear ( archaic diction, abstract diction, metaphor, personification, anaphora, parallel structure, etc... Use questions 1-13 on the handout  (pp 72-74) as a guideline for close reading. For questions,  when it asks you to identify devices, underline the device and put the question number in the left margin - briefly discuss the effect of the device in the margin next to where the device is used. Many of these are answered for you in the paragraphs before and after the questions on the handout - read them and use them to your benefit. Have fun.

Watch 45 minutes of the Democratic Debate on ABC 5 pm.  Just watch and listen - take about 1 page of notes in your compbook. Listen to the candidates - are they using appeals - which ones? How do they establish their ethos? Logos? Pathos? which seems to be more effective? What audience does/do the candidates appeal to - the same? different?
 
Pick 3 main candidates to follow during the 45 mins that you watch - write down the time you watch. If you are not home during the time 5-7 you will be able to find the debate online. Have fun. Watch with friends or family! Discussion tomorrow.
